The New Horizon Copper Mine restart continued to advance during May 2026, with significant progress across processing infrastructure, dewatering, earthworks and site preparation activities.
The project remains focused on returning one of Namibia’s historic copper operations to production through a major programme of refurbishment, upgrades and operational improvements.
Key highlights:
- First shipments of new processing equipment departed supplier facilities, including components for the crushing circuit, mills and control systems
- Sensor-based sorting plant shipped, with civil construction works progressing
- Dewatering programme advanced, with first pump systems completing factory testing
- Additional construction resources mobilised on site
- Processing plant commissioning targeted for October 2026
Restart Progress
The Kombat restart programme includes upgrades across the processing plant, installation of new milling capacity, underground dewatering and preparation for the recommencement of mining activities.
During the month, civil works advanced across key areas, with SBS plant civil works reaching 55%, milling plant concrete works reaching 27% and dewatering pump manufacture progressing to 75%.
